Photojojo #168 - Green Counteracts Gray

I'm so tired! I was up until about 2 am doing that photobook. It's nice tonight to have some rain, the photojojo handled, and looking forward to a warm cozy bed and an early bedtime, after Idol, of course!

My jojo is on the left - some swampy grass outside the restaurant last Saturday, combined with my jojo partner's green rope. Green is a nice color when it is so cold and dreary outside.

Yikes - Book Entered into Photo Competition

It's a long, long, long shot, but I made a book of my photos from Italy and entered it into the 3rd Annual Blurb photo contest.
Here's a link that let's you flip through it just like a real book. The competition is juried, not voted on, so I hope I have a good shot at something. Grand prize is $25K!

Here's another photojojo - #167 - trees and buildings at funny angles. I love doing jojo!

Photojojos Are Back! Photojojo #166

Here's a new photojojo with my partner. They provided the birds on the pole; I took a photo of the bare trees outside the crab feed.

Wow - Three Days Without A Post....

I wonder where my jojo partner is? Oh where oh where could s/he be?

Here's a photo I took yesterday with my iPhone. I didn't do anything to it...just the glorious Spring sky with the plum blossoms falling everywhere....

Photojojo #164 - Solo Jojo With Someone Else's Doodles

This is old north wind with some doodles from a white board I saw somewhere. Someone actually using statistical analysis.

Surf's Up

Back at work today - out scoping projects to minimize wastes and thinking about art projects I need to do. My syllabus for my upcoming mixed media class is nearly complete - that starts April 8.

I have an art show starting May 2nd that I need to plan and do the art for - thinking I will do the Flesh of My Flesh stuff mixed with recent (abstract) photos from Italy. They might play nicely off one another. Goal would be to put photos into recycled frames that go-with. This is always a fun challenge - to mix the photo size with what goes well with the frame. I have the mat cutter now so that makes it easy to do the work myself.

Anyway - coming home from work today I saw beautiful waves along the Pacific Ocean, reminding me of this photo I took last Saturday that I will call "Surf's Up." Many people were playing hookey today and playing on the beach and/or surfing when I came down Highway 1.

Couple More Solo Jojos

I have fun with these solo jojos as they remind me how my work follows my own color themes and sensibilities. Here are Photojojos #161 and 162.

Missing my photojojo partner, so I will do my usual solitary jojo - a photo with a doodle. This photo was taken Saturday at the Maverick's area of Pillar Point. I paired it with a doodle I made several years ago.

Best of Italy

Here's a link to the best 223 photos I took while in Italy. I'm looking for opportunities to show these, or sell them matted and framed. Please pass along this info to anyone you know who might be interested.

Thanks!

Back from Italy - Mission Accomplished

I just got back from a two week "ski trip" in the Italian Alps with a side trip to the Italian Riviera (Rapallo, Sta. Marguerite, Portofino).

Because I can't really ski much due to a prior torn meniscus, my goal on this trip was to take photos. I ended up taking 1,600 photos. Of those 1,600, I really really liked 12-15 and another 200 or so were great once I did some adjustments to them.

You can see the best of the best on the 4x365 blog as they post daily. For the rest, I'm considering a show or two, some home shows, and already have some people asking for prints as commissions.

I am sure I'll be using some in my print work as well, and wouldn't life be wonderful if I could travel and take photos that paid for the trips? I can always hope.

Italy was so wonderful, especially the contrast between the snow-ful Italian alps and the romantic and lazy Riviera. I want to return there again someday.

Postcard #3 - Italy Marzo 2010

The Slowness of Creativity

Slowly but surely this new art project is taking shape and moving forward. I thought I would have more down-time here in Italy to work on new clothes for the doll. Today, I did have time to sketch a template for clothes and yesterday, while up on the top of the mountain above Rapallo Italy, I found time to meditate and saw some images in my mind of the layout for these pieces.

They are coming slowly, but I am savoring the process of the creating. It is a new thing for me to give myself the time to consider and be in deeper connection with what the piece needs to be.

Photojojos #158 and 159

I've been traveling so I am behind on the jojos. Here are two from last week. Ciao!
